Newell sheep sales report

St. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 531 head June 25, compared to 1,396 head last week and 488 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

No accurate trends were available due to difference in numbers on offer compared to last week. Buyer attendance was light with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 68% slaughter ewes and bucks, 32% feeder lambs.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 162 to 163 lbs., 29.50 to 30.50 (29.69). Utility 1 to 2, 59 head, 131 lbs., 23.50; 9 head, 211 lbs., 22.50. Cull 1 to 2, 26 head, 123 lbs., 11.25.

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 90 to 94 lbs., 102.00 to 102.25 (102.08).
