Clovis livestock auction report

The Clovis Livestock Auction, Clovis, N.M., reported receipts of 1,151 head June 24, compared to 823 head last week and 1,305 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M.

Compared to last week, feeder steers had no comparable sales under 500 pounds, while those over 500 pounds were $5 to $8 higher. Heifers under 500 pounds were steady to $1 higher on comparable sales, and those over 500 pounds were $3 to $6 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows 23% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, bred cows 2%, pairs 2%, feeders 70%. In feeder supply, steers made up approximately 45% of the run, heifers 55%, with 19% steers and heifers over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 304 to 305 lbs., weaned or thin 124.00 to 135.00; few 406 to 455 lbs., weaned or thin 119.00 to 129.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 110.00, package 518 lbs., weaned 116.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 97.50 to 103.50; packages 623 to 676 lb. calves 99.50 to 100.75; lot 742 lbs., 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, packages 325 to 357 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00; packages 468 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00; packages 551 to 570 lbs., 106.00 to 107.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 96.00 to 98.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1485 to 1955 lbs., 58.25 to 64.00; high dressing, 1640 to 2130 lbs., 66.00 to 66.25; low dressing, 1030 to 1870 lbs., 51.50 to 56.75. Holsteins, Yield grade 1 to 2, 1490 to 1905 lbs., 57.50 to 64.75; high yield, 1635 to 2085 lbs., 65.75 to 66.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1123 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 560.00, per head.

First calf heifers: 800 to 850 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 425.00 to 550.00, per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 850 to 1200 lbs., with 125- to 225-lb. calves, 760.00 to 1000.00, per pair.
