Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 451 head, June 25, compared to 1,264 head, last week and 1,862 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Wheat harvest is in full swing, therefore most of the cattle auctions in the state are shut down for harvest. Compared to last week, there were not enough steers and heifers for a market test, limited sales were steady to firm. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 to $6 higher in a limited supply. Trade was active, demand good. Receipts included 76% 600 pounds and over, 3% 600 pounds and under, 21% slaughter cows and bulls with 94 head, early. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 54 head, 993 lbs., 91.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 9 head, 645 lbs., 98.50; 7 head, 750 lbs., 95.50; 13 head, 811 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, 6 head, 706 lbs., 57.50; 10 head, 954 lbs., 61.00. Medium and large frame 3 to 4, roping stock, 6 head, 672 lbs., 44.00. Large frame 3, Holsteins 5 head, 385 lbs., 41.00; 5 head, 804 lbs., 54.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 634 lbs., 96.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 61 head, 828 lbs., 88.85. Medium and large frame 3 to 4, Brahman X 7 head, 666 lbs., 75.00. Large frame 3, Holsteins 12 head, 647 lbs., 53.50; 11 head, 794 lbs., 54.00.

Slaughter cows: Premium White , 65 to 75% lean, 59.50. Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 53.50 to 55.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 53.50 to 56.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 52.50 to 56.75.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 63.00 to 67.50; high dressing individual, 72.50; low dressing, 55.50 to 62.00.
