Wheat being stifled by heat, limited moisture

Montana

Montana saw warmer temperatures and light precipitation for the week ending June 28, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Montana Field Office, June 29.

Glasgow had the high temperature at 102 degrees. Wisdom had the low at 26 degrees. Cut Bank received the greatest amount of precipitation with 1.58 inches over the week. Topsoil moisture is 41 percent adequate and surplus, well below last week's 60 percent, and last year's 67 percent. Subsoil moisture is 47 percent adequate and surplus, down from last week's 63, and last year's 59 percent.

The number of days suitable for field work was 6.7, up from last week's 5.9, and last year's 6.4.
