Morgan County groups help sponsor exhibitors for State Fair

Colorado

Residents can be an exhibitor at the 2009 Colorado State Fair through sponsorship of the Morgan County Commissioners and Morgan County Extension.

The State Fair Outreach Program provides transportation to Pueblo for exhibits from our area as a means to encourage individuals to show off their talents. Exhibits will be accepted at the Morgan County Extension Center July 6 through July 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anyone can enter State Fair. Although we do encourage our first place winners at the 2008 Morgan County Fair to enter State Fair this year, a person does not have to enter the exhibit at the local fair before going to State Fair.

The Colorado State Fair Creative Arts Division has many categories. In some of the departments, there are separate classes for youth, men and anyone over 65.

Needle art classes include embroidery, clothing, knitting, crocheting, weaving and tatting and many other types of handwork. Quilting includes classes on many different sizes and techniques.

In Crafts, classes include ceramics, beading, tole painting, jewelry, leather, porcelain art, wood, metal arts, scrapbooking, and others. The Doll category includes all types of dolls as well as clothes and accessories. The pantry category it includes all areas of food preservation, but baked foods cannot be entered.

There are specific guidelines and entry fees for each category. Information is available on the State Fair website, www.coloradostatefair.com; at Morgan County Extension Center, 914 E. Railroad Ave., Fort Morgan; or by calling 970-542-3544. Even if you get the entry information off the CSF website, you do need to contact our office for packing instructions. Because entries will be transported to Pueblo, there are specific instructions for packing, labeling and completing entry forms.
