Iowa pork producers and Fareway to celebrate Fourth of JulyIowa Iowa's 93 Fareway Stores will be hosting special Fourth of July promotions next week as part of a partnership with the Iowa Pork Producers Association. This is the 13th year for the holiday promotion with Fareway and each store will have specials on pork products during the week. Several of the stores also will have cookouts and local pork producers will grill and serve pork burgers on one day of the promotion. Consumers should check with their local Fareway Store for the date and time of the pork cookout. "This is a great promotion and an excellent opportunity to partner with Fareway to promote Iowa's delicious pork products as consumers shop for their 4th of July barbecues," says IPPA President John Vossberg, a pork producer from Janesville in Bremer County. "Iowa's responsible pork producer families work hard to produce quality products and we hope this promotion helps remind consumers to include pork in their holiday plans." The grill won't be the only thing sizzling during the promotion. Fareway plans to offer some great prices on pork as well. Fareway will have plenty of Chairman's Reserve Iowa Pork Chops at $1.88 per pound and 4-pound bags of ground pork and bratwurst patties for $5.99. This is just one of the many regular promotions funded by pork producers through their Pork Checkoff.
