Champions selected at 2009 Kansas Junior Angus Show

Kansas junior Angus members led 103 entries at the 2009 Kansas Junior Angus Association Preview Show, June 5 and 6 in Hutchinson, Kan. Bruce Kiesewetter, Letts, Iowa, evaluated two bred-and-owned bulls, 65 owned females, 23 bred-and-owned females, four cow-calf pairs, and nine registered Angus steers before choosing winners.

Laflins Mine That Bird was named grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Clinton Laflin, Olsburg, Kan., owns the October 2008 son of BC 7022 Raven 7965

Lauren Prill, Wichita, Kan., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. LLP U1 Harley P325 S21 is a January 2008 son of B3R P325 0004 Electra 1028.

Exar Highrose 84020 claimed the Bob Laflin Supreme Champion Award and grand champion owned female honors after first winning early junior champion. Ethan Hager, Stafford, Kan., owns the January 2008 daughter of EXAR Pit Boss 409.

Laflins Pride 7802 won reserve grand champion female. Clinton Laflin, Olsburg, Kan., owns the September 2007 daughter of EXAR Nacho 3090. She first won senior champion.

Cody Theis, Leavenworth, Kan., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. AVF Sara 1048 is a February 2008 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004. She first won junior champion.

CP Miss Kami was named reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Hadley DeHoff, Tonganoxie, Kan., owns the March 2008 daughter of Mytty In Focus. She first won reserve junior champion.

Ethan Dickerson, Paradise, Kan., showed the grand champion cow-calf pair. Bar S PRIDE 7807 is a March 2007 daughter of TC Foreman 104. A March 2009 bull calf sired by Bar S Midland 6388 completes the winning pair.
