On March 6, 2009, Growth Energy submitted a Green Jobs Waiver asking the Environmental Protection Agency to allow gasoline blended with as much as 15 percent ethanol, also known as E15. On April 21, the EPA began accepting public comment on the waiver application; July 20 marks the end of the comment period.
Increasing the blend up to E15 would create 136,101 new jobs and inject $24.4 billion into the American economy annually. Western Plains Ethanol employs 35 full-time people. Steve McNinch, CEO of Western Plains Ethanol, invites interested media to tour their state-of-the-art ethanol facility and ask questions about Growth Energy's Green Jobs Waiver and what increasing the blend level to E15 means for Kansas.
