Herman, Sims grab bull titles at Hereford Junior Nationals

Kasey Herman, Skiatook, Okla., exhibited the grand champion bred-and-owned bull and Mark Sims, Elgin, Okla., showed the reserve champion at the 10th annual VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Tulsa, Okla., on July 9.

Judge Ryan Cotton, Clarkesville, Ga., evaluated 57 bulls prior to selecting Herman's entry as champion. The January 2008 bull STAR KKH SSF Okeechobee 33U ET by Remitall Online 122L was slapped overall grand champion and division IV champion. Okeechobee showed with expected progeny differences of birth weight 4.3, weaning weight 55, yearling weight 95, milk 18 and milk & growth 46.

Sims led MCS 533P Romeo U14 ET by STAR Bright Future 533P ET to the reserve champion bred-and-owned title and was also reserve in division IV. Romeo calved March 19, 2008, and has EPDs of BW 5.1, WW 53, YW 89, MM 16 and M&G 43.
