Tucker receives titles at Hereford Junior National

Blake Tucker's heifer TCC Miss Shelby 82 ET came out on top in the 219-head bred-and-owned female show at the 2009 VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Tulsa, Okla., July 9. Of Kasey Herman's four head in the grand drive, her heifer STAR KKH SSF Olivia 15U ET was chosen reserve champion. Tucker, North Platte, Neb., and Herman, Skiatook, Okla., went on to win the polled owned show on July 11.

Judge Ryan Cotton, Clarkesville, Ga., was impressed with the line-up and said, "This is an outstanding set of females that are very feminine with natural balance. You could take the halter off and go make a great cow out of any of these females."

Tucker's April heifer by Ankonian Midas 72 was first named division V winner and has expected progeny differences of birth weight 4.0; weaning weight 51; yearling weight 83; milk 17, and milk & growth 43.

Herman's January heifer won division VI and is by Remitall Online 122L with EPDs of BW 4.3;WW 55; YW 95; MM 18 and M&G 46.

The champion junior AI heifer was shown by Marija Crockett, Atchison, Kan. Champion went to CRFPH Daisy 7T, a Sept. 9, 2007, daughter of Huth Prospector K085. This is a repeat win for Marija and Daisy 7T, as they took top AI heifer honors in 2008.

Reserve honors went to Carla Weissend, Montgomery, Ala., with a Nov. 20, 2007, daughter of Mohican TRM Java 25J. This division is for heifers that are a result of participating in the NJHA Junior AI program and allows youth to receive free semen and certificates.
