Rural policy commission members named

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP)--Gov. Mark Parkinson has appointed three people, including a state senator, to the Kansas Commission on Rural Policy.

The commission was created by the Legislature in 2008 with the job of promoting and assisting rural development projects throughout Kansas.

Parkinson's new appointees are Patty Clark, of Wichita; Richard Veach, of Ulysses; and Democratic state Sen. Marci Francisco, of Lawrence.

Clark currently serves as director of operations for the Kansas Leadership Center.

Veach has been CEO for Pioneer Communications since 1986.

Francisco represents the Lawrence and Lecompton communities and serves as the ranking Democrat on the Senate Agriculture Committee and Senate Natural Resources Committee.
