Kansas

Richard C. (Rick) Snell, Kansas State University Extension Agricultural Agent for Barton County, based in Great Bend, was recently recognized as one of four regional winners in agricultural communications for his weekly personal news column, Rick's Ag Roundup.

Snell received a plaque from Stephanie Darnell of the Bayer Advanced Company, sponsor of the award. Snell won the state competition among all agricultural and horticultural agents and then won the north central region, made up of 12 states of the Extension Educators national organization.

The award was presented at the 93rd Annual Meeting and Professional Improvement Conference of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents in Greensboro, N.C. Judging of the columns was done by professional journalists.

Snell has been with K-State Research and Extension for 27 years, having served as Barton County Extension Agent for the past 21 years. His weekly column appears in local daily and weekly newspapers as well as several regional farm publications.

Snell also was a state winner for his weekly radio program on KVGB radio, Great Bend.
