Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,905 head Jan. 16, compared to 3,782 head last week and 3,646 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, feeder steers 750 to 1,050 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, 750 pounds and under were firm to $3 higher in a limited supply, heifers 600 to 900 pounds were steady to $2 lower, 600 pounds and under, a higher undertone noted is a limited supply. Slaughter cows were steady, slaughter bulls were not enough for a market test, limited sales were steady. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 80% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 13% bred cows, slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers.
