Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Jan. 16, reported receipts of 1,006 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,587 head last week and 826 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, few 180 lbs., 42.50. Barbados ewes, 80 to 90 lbs., 50.00 to 51.00; pairs, 20.00 to 22.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 150 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 125.00 to 145.00, few to 147.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 140 lbs., 37.00 to 47.00. Cull, thin/very thin, 20.00 to 30.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 127.00 to 140.00, few to 143.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 125.00 to 134.00, few to 138.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 115.00 to 125.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 56.00, thin 30.00 to 40.00. Angoras, few 90 lbs., 26.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 81.00 to 98.00, few light weights 105.00 to 113.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 120 lbs., 85.00 to 94.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 38.00 to 60.00. Pairs, 33.00 to 35.50 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 90 to 125 lbs., 100.00 to 116.00.
