Dodge City livestock sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock, Inc., reported receipts of 5,974 head Jan. 14, compared to 3,969 head last week and 3,521 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 350 to 700 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 700 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, the bulk was $1 to $3 lower. Heifers 400 to 500 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, 500 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 750 to 900 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter cows, Boners were weak to $3 lower, Breaker and Lean were weak to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were weak on light test. Trade and demand were good. Receipts 79% over 600 pounds, 15% under 600 pounds and 6% slaughter cows and bulls with 318 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 50% steers and 50% heifers.
