Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 20,493 head Jan. 16, compared to 4,486 head last week and 12,745 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steer calves sold steady to $1 higher. Heifer calves sold steady to $2 lower. Yearling feeder steers sold steady to $2 higher. Yearling feeder heifers sold mostly steady. Yearling feeder cattle lot loads were most attractive to buyers. Several packages of pre-conditioned reputation cattle were present. There was increased offerings and interest this week due to annual Stock Show specials at all Northern Colorado barns. The supply was made up of 56% feeder steers, 44% feeder heifers, and the balance feeder bulls, with about 60% of total feeder supply over 600 pounds.
