Social, annual meeting for Kansas Limousin enthusiasts Feb. 7

Come all Limousin enthusiasts for a fun afternoon and evening in Emporia at the Best Western Hotel at 3021 W. Hwy 50 on Feb. 7.

The afternoon will start at 3 p.m., for socializing and finding out what everyone has been doing the past year. Find out about the exciting things that KLBA will be doing in the next year and beyond. Around 4 p.m., the annual meeting will start. This is a change from having the meeting on the weekend of the State Sale in the spring. There will be the election of new board members, if anyone is interested in a board position, call Bruce Schrag or any board member and let them know of your interest in a board position. After the meeting, the Kansas Junior Limousin Breeders Association will be catering another great meal for our enjoyment. The cost of this will be $10 for adults and $5 for children. Reservations need to be made to either Bruce Schrag at 620-367-2576 or Karen Campbell at 913-727-5407 by Feb. 4.

The really fun part of the evening, the benefit auction will begin following the meal. This is one the KLBA fundraisers for the year. Donations and buyers are needed. The items can be handmade, bought, secret items, food items (very popular). There are already some semen donations--MAGS Remote, WULFS Nasa, and EXLR New Generation. This semen will be available that evening so bring a semen tank if you are thinking about purchasing those lots. If you let Bruce Schrag or Pat Meek know what you are donating, it can listed on the website--in case if someone can not attend, they can place a bid with someone that is attending.

If you would be staying for the night, ask for the KLBA Block of rooms at the Best Western Hotel. The phone is 620-342-7587.

Organizers will also be discussing the 2009 Heartland Junior Regional Show that Kansas will be hosting this year in Ottawa at the Franklin County Fairgrounds on June 4 to 6. Another exciting item that we will be discussing is that KLBA will be hosting the National Junior Heifer Show at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, July 3 to 10, 2010. The show will need lots of help to making this endeavor a great success.

If you have not received your raffle tickets to sell for the KSU Quilt that Corrine Olsen put together for the KLBA, call Bruce Schrag for them. They sell for $1 each or 6 for $5. There is a picture of the quilt on the KLBA website.

The KLBA Spring Sale will be April 4 at the Farmer's and Ranchers Livestock in Salina, Kan. If you are interested in consigning cattle for this sale, the sale rules and nomination forms are on the website at, if you need more information call sale chairman, Jerry Meek at 913-594-1453 or e-mail him at The forms are due on Feb. 15 with registration papers and performance information. Consignors should call with consignments for advertising purposes, as that information is due well in advance of the sale date.
