Irrigation conference adding industry speakers to updates on research, equipment, hot issuesKansas Feb. 24 and 25 are the dates for the Central Plains Irrigation Conference and Exposition, which this year will feature presentations by industry professionals, as well as university researchers and government officials. The event will be at the City Limits Convention Center in Colby, Kan. The conference and equipment exposition begin at 8:30 a.m., Feb. 24 with registration and the expo displays. The technical sessions begin at 10 a.m. Mark Lawson of Monsanto, will give the "Outlook on Agriculture's Potential" and Robert Johnson of Sunflower Electric will discuss "The Role of Wind Energy in Agriculture: A Cooperative's Point of View." Other presentations will cover: --Crop and weather interaction; --Optimizing crop water productivity; --Center pivot sprinkler considerations; --Subsurface drip irrigation; --Irrigation technology and energy; --Central Plains water policy (panel discussion), and --Economic issues facing irrigators. The registration fee for the conference includes all sessions, entry to the equipment expo, a copy of the conference proceedings, two lunches and social hour.
