Colorado Wine Industry's 2008 Restaurant Recognition Award Winners announcedColorado Recently, the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board announced the winners of the third Colorado Wine Industry Restaurant Recognition Awards: --Best Colorado Wine List: The Warehouse Restaurant and Gallery, Colorado Springs; --Best Use of Colorado Food and Wine: Vesta Dipping Grill, Denver; --Best Colorado Wine List, Honorable Mention (especially for the dessert list): Vines Wine Bar, Parker. Each winning restaurant received $1,000 and a trophy to display in their restaurant. Doug Caskey, executive director of the Colorado Wine Board, said, "The competition for this year's awards was very, very stiff. We had many restaurants showing great support for local products on their wine lists and on their menus, and had to add an honorable mention to the awards because of the so many great entries. This is a truly exciting time to dine out in Colorado when so many chefs and sommeliers are featuring great local products." The Colorado wine industry is growing, and interest in Colorado wine is growing. Colorado wine has experienced a 1085 percent growth since 1992. "The recession hasn't dampened consumer's taste for local foods and wines. Sales of Colorado wines are still very strong thanks to the support of restaurants like The Warehouse, Vines and Vesta. We are grateful to our supporters on both sides of the table," said Caskey.
