Annual chile conference set to bring the heatNew Mexico New Mexico State University will host the 2009 New Mexico Chile Conference Feb. 3, at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces. This year's program will focus on practical solutions for chile pepper industry growers, producers and processors. During the conference, new mechanical harvesters and destemmers will be showcased. Additionally, research on disease and pest management solutions, and the latest food safety and health benefits research will be addressed. The annual welcome reception will be held on Feb. 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The conference will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Feb. 3. Preregistration for the conference can be done online at www.chilepepperinstitute.org, by phone at 575-646-3028 or by fax at 575-646-6041. Registration is $85 in advance or $95 at the door.
