Currently, he is a member of the Dawson County Board of Commissioners and has been an active member on school, church, and other agricultural boards. Jim and his wife, Pat, have two sons and five granddaughters.

Skillestad was formally seated during ASA's 41st Annual Meeting held Jan. 31, in Fort Worth, Texas. Also seated were Vice Chairman and Chairman-Elect Gregg Bailey, Mt. Vernon, Mo.; and Treasurer Dr. John Harker, Hope, Ind. Rounding out ASA's five-member Executive Committee are Tommy Brown, Clanton, Ala., and Mike Mallett, Lampasas, Texas.
