Carbon planning commission approves wind farm

RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP)--The Carbon County Planning Commission has approved plans for a wind farm with 154 windmills.

Houston, Texas-based Horizon Wind Energy is proposing to build the Simpson Ridge Wind Farm between Hanna and Medicine Bow. Construction would begin next year or in 2011.

The project was tabled in December when county planners raised more questions than Horizon could answer.

The planning commission unanimously approved the plans Feb. 2. Commission members praised the company for giving a detailed presentation this time.
