Bronze and Silver Pins presented to David Lundgren, Jr

Kansas

David Lundgren, Jr., Ottawa, has earned the National Junior Angus Association's Bronze and Silver Awards, according to Robin Ruff, junior activities director of the American Angus Association in Saint Joseph, Mo. The 20-year-old son of David and Sandy Lundgren attends Oral Roberts University, where he studies business management.

David is a member of the Kansas Junior Angus Association. He has attended the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development Conference and served as a mentor at the National Junior Angus Show. David has participated in the NJAA writing, prepared and extemporaneous speaking, poster and photography contests as well as the All-American Certified Angus Beef Cook-off at the NJAS. He has shown his cattle at local, state and national shows. David has been a member of the NJAA since 2003.

The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly 7,000 active members nationwide.
