Boehlje to present College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Distinguished Lecture Feb. 19

Michael Boehlje, an agricultural economist at Purdue University, will present the 2009 Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Distinguished Lecture Feb. 19.

Boehlje will present "The Landscape of Agriculture Today and Tomorrow" at 7:30 p.m., in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Boehlje, distinguished professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Center for Food and Agricultural Business at Purdue University, will speak on the importance of strategic planning and thinking for long-term viability and success.

The focus of his work has been to integrate concepts of economics, finance and strategy to solve problems of farm and agribusiness managers. Boehlje, an ISU alum, previously served on the Iowa State economics faculty and as assistant director of the Iowa Agricultural Experiment Station and assistant dean for the College of Agriculture.

He is author or co-author of four books and more than 450 articles and publications. He is a fellow of the American Agricultural Economics Association and the International Food and Agribusiness Management Association.
