9th Annual Women in Agriculture Conference set for Feb. 13 in SidneyNebraska Women are taking a larger role in many farm and ranches--driving tractors, working cattle, and tending to the business of farming, such as marketing commodities. A conference scheduled for February at Sidney on Feb. 13 will provide them with some tools to make their jobs easier. "Women in Agriculture: Pocketing 'Change' for Posterity" scheduled for Feb. 13, will touch on topics both useful and fun. Some presentations are about the business of farming. Others are about fun or personal enrichment. The conference will take place at the Holiday Inn, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and ending by 4 p.m. The day's topics include: --"Farm Bill Details and Overview" by Brad Fraass, Cheyenne County Executive Director, USDA Farm Service Agency --"The World of Crop Insurance" by Carmen Egging-Draper, insurance specialist, Farm Credit Services of America --"3 Steps to De-stress" by Jamie Goffena, UNL Extension Educator --"Walk Like An Egyptian" by Connie Hancock, UNL Extension Educator --"Understanding Grass Growth and Stocking Rates" by Cindy Tusler, UNL Extension Educator --"Financially Frazzled? Get a Make-over!" by Jamie Goffena and Carla Mahar, UNL Extension Educators --"Crop Markets 2009: Another New Plateau?" by Paul Burgener, UNL Agricultural Economist Breaks in the program will provide the attendees time to tour booths set up by local businesses, with such items as body care products, art works, crafts, and other items of interest to women in agriculture. Anyone wishing to set up a booth may contact the UNL Extension-Cheyenne County at the number listed below. The conference is sponsored by area financial institutions, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension, Natural Resource Conservation Service and the South Platte Natural Resources District.
