Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show presents the ninth annual Texas Commodity SymposiumTexas The ninth annual Texas Commodity Symposium will be held Dec. 2 in the Grand Plaza Room at the Amarillo Civic Center and is held in conjunction with the 25th Anniversary Amarillo Farm and Ranch Show. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the symposium will begin at 9 a.m. This jointly organized symposium provides producers and businesspeople alike with essential agriculture information and programs that will affect Texas commodity producers. The Texas Commodity Symposium is free with the $2 show admission donation to the FFA and will conclude with a catered lunch at noon. The tentative schedule is as follows: 8:30 a.m., Registration 9 a.m., Washington Perspective--Cap and Trade, Indirect Land Use and Healthcare; 9:45 a.m., State FSA update--Updates farm bill program sign up; 10 a.m., Texas Agricultural Statistics Service Update--Information on upcoming agricultural census survey; 10:15 a.m ., State NRCS Update--Updates on CSP, EQIP and other conservation programs; 10:30 a.m., Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness Panel--Discussion on the impact of irrigated crops on the area economy; 12 p.m., Lunch and updates from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
