North Texas Ag Conference set for Jan. 12 in Wellington

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service will host the annual North Texas Ag Conference on Jan. 12 at the Bura Handley Community Center, 802 10th Street, Wellington.

Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and is $10 to be paid at the door. It will include a noon meal, said Todd Baughman, AgriLife Extension state peanut specialist in Vernon.

Scheduled program topics and presenters are:

--Crop and cattle management issues, Stan Bevers, AgriLife Extension economist from Vernon.

--Secondary insect pest in cotton, Terry Pitts, Oklahoma State University.

--Disease management issues in cotton and peanuts, Jason Woodward, AgriLife Extension plant pathologist from Lubbock.

--Problem weeds in cotton and peanuts, Peter Dotray, AgriLife Extension weed specialist from Lubbock.

--Crop management update, Baughman.

--Laws and regulations update, Dale Dunlap, AgriLife Extension agriculture and natural resources agent in Collingsworth County.

Included in the program will also be an update on new industry products. Six continuing education units--one general, four integrated pest management and one laws and regulations--through the Texas Department of Agriculture will be offered.
