Spaces still available for K-State Master of Agribusiness tour of Australian, New Zealand agribusinesses

Kansas

Kansas State University's Master of Agribusiness program is offering travel to the "land down under" to learn about the food and agriculture industry in the Oceania region. The trip will include stops in Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown, New Zealand and Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane, Australia, with visits of cattle, deer and sheep farms, dairies, fruit and vegetable farms, grain and cotton farms, as well as, agricultural and food related industries and an overnight farm stay in Australia. Time has also been set aside for sightseeing. The tour is scheduled for April 16 to May 1, 2010 and is open to anyone with an interest in international agribusiness. Close to 30 individuals have committed to joining the group, but there is space for a couple more travelers.

Organizers are currently collecting a $600 per person deposit for travelers. The trip cost is $5,400* per person, which includes in-country logistics; hotel/motel rooms; entrance fees for special events; and most meals for double occupancy; and flights from San Francisco to Auckland, New Zealand, internal flights in New Zealand and Australia, and from Brisbane, Australia to San Francisco. *These rates are based on current estimates and exchange rates. Trip costs will be paid in local currencies and the final cost will depend on the number of travelers and exchange rates.

Anyone interested in participating in this trip should contact Mary Bowen at mjbowen@ksu.edu or 785-532-4435 by Jan. 6, 2010. More information about the trip can be found at http://mab.ksu.edu/Alumni/ANZ.html.
