NMSU College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences honors students

New Mexico

The New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences will honor its outstanding students at the Sam Steel Ceremony Dec. 11 at 4 p.m., in the Atkinson Recital Hall.

Each student will receive a framed certificate during the ceremony. They also will be recognized during their department's senior reception. The students were nominated by their department and selected by the College Awards Committee.

Morgan Nelson, of the agricultural economics and agricultural business department, will receive the Alumni Association Outstanding Student Award.

The Outstanding Student Awards for each department are as follows: Rachael Lindsay Thomen, agricultural extension education; Christina De Leon, family and consumer sciences; Kelsi Cureton, agricultural economics and agricultural business; Megan Coleson, animal and range sciences; Carol Lange, entomology, plant pathology and weed science; Paul Martinez, School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management; and Sheny Alonso Leon, plant and environmental sciences.

The Dean's Award of Leadership Excellence will be given to Shawna McLain, of the agricultural economics and agricultural business department.

Five students will receive the undergraduate Dean's Award of Excellence. They are: Kimberly Treat, School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management; Kara Brooks, agricultural economics and agricultural business; Lindsey Zemanek, animal and range sciences; James Patrick Kilcrease, entomology, plant pathology and weed science; and Russell Walter, agricultural extension education.

Kassi Laney, agricultural economics and agricultural business, and Bonnie Rabe, agricultural extension education, will be honored with the graduate Dean's Award of Excellence.
