NAILE Hereford champions named

WCC WOF Ironman U302 and STAR KKH SSF Olivia 15U ET won the grand champion Hereford titles at the 2009 North American International Livestock Exhibition (NAILE) National Hereford Show Nov. 19 in Louisville, Ky.

During the champion female lineup judge Greg Walthall, Windsor, Mo., described the group as "double wow" and said that it was a privilege and an honor for he and his wife, Pearl, to sort the Hereford cattle.

"Hereford breeders should be extremely proud these cattle will go out and function in every environment and will go out and be real-world cattle and extremely good show cattle," Greg said. "We were very pleased after the female show and are very proud to have our picture taken with the champion and reserve champion bulls."

Grand and yearling champion bull honors went to Hunter Hamilton, Heltonville, Ind., and Chad Wilson, Cloverdale, Ind., with WCC WOF Ironman U302. The Feb. 5, 2008, bull is sired by WCC Slam Dunk R26 ET.

Reserve grand and champion spring bull calf honors went to STAR TCF Lock-N-Load 300W ET owned by TCF and Co., Petoskey, Mich.; Turkey Feather Ranch, Ada, Okla.; and Star Lake Cattle Ranch, Skiatook, Okla. He is the March 12, 2009, son of LaGrand Reload 80P ET.

In the female show, taking top honors was Star Lake Cattle Ranch, B.J. Herman & Sons, Edgerton, Ohio; and Kasey Herman, Skiatook, Okla., with STAR KKH SSF Olivia 15U ET. The female was first named junior yearling champion female and is a Jan. 5, 2008, daughter of Remitall Online 122L.

Reserve grand and spring yearling champion female honors went to Rylee Owen, Mason, Texas, with KLD BR Carol Neon D85 ET. She is an April 21, 2008, daughter of GH Neon 17N.

In the cow-calf show, Tyme 34L Scarlet 407S shown by Tyme Cattle Co., West Burlington, N.Y., was chosen champion. She is an April 1, 2006, daughter of KJ 52E Victor 417L and showed with a June heifer calf at side sired by KJ 2427 Mr T Line 602M.

Redden 5001 Lassie 10T was named reserve champion cow for exhibitor Ike Redden, Bloomington, Ind. The July 2, 2007, daughter of AB Giacomo 6008 5001 ET showed with a May heifer calf at side sired by NJW 1Y Wrangler 19D.

Star Lake Cattle Co. won the best six head award and was named premier exhibitor. Star Lake also showed the first place get-of-sire with a group sired by Remitall Online 122L. Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill., was named premier breeder.

Tyler Cates from Modoc, Ind., judged the 71-head junior show on Nov. 15. Purple Sage 20U shown by William Passwaters, Bridgeville, Del., was slapped the grand champion female. The March 12, 2008, female is sired by BR Moler ET. Taking reserve honors in the junior show was David Fosbrink, Columbus, Ind., with Redden 533P Queen W04. The March 3, 2009, female is sired by STAR Bright Future 533P ET.

Fall calf champion heifer: Kirbie Day, Waxahachie, Texas, with RW MC Krissie 3078 8120 ET by RW KW Hummer K23 3078. Reserve fall calf champion heifer: Hunter Hamilton, Heltonville, Ind., with WCC Dixie U320 ET by JCS Showtime.

Intermediate champion heifer: Matthew Compton, Greenville, Ind., with Ramsey's Lady Sylvia by Ramsey's Lady's Man. Reserve intermediate champion heifer: Hunter Hamilton with Showtime Karlie 867 by Ramsey's Firewall.

Spring yearling champion heifer: Rylee Owen, Mason, Texas, with KLD BR Carol Neon D85 ET by GH Neon 17N. Reserve spring yearling champion heifer: Kagney Collins, Flanagan, Ill., with Purple Clementine 29U ET by LaGrand Reload 80P ET.

Junior yearling champion heifer: Star Lake Cattle Ranch, B.J. Herman & Sons, and Kasey Herman with STAR KKH SSF Olivia 15U ET by Remitall Online 122L. Reserve junior yearling champion heifer: Purple Reign Cattle Co., Toulon, Ill., and Carlson Cattle, Royal Center, Ind., with Purple CMCC Nastia 9U by LaGrand Reload 80P ET.

Senior yearling champion heifer: Oak Ledge Farm, Belmont, N.H., with KEB Osuzanna Odyssey 1ETT by UPS Odyssey 1ET. Reserve spring calf champion bull: Ridgeview Farm, Alto, Mich., with Goble Aces N Eights 321W by STAR TRF Battle Chief 356P.

Junior calf champion bull: Zink Herefords, Oxford, Ind., and Chad Wilson, Cloverdale, Ind., with WCC Dow Jones W300 ET by NJW 532M 139J Investment 109R. Reserve junior calf champion bull: Kasey Herman; Tennessee River Music Inc., Ft. Payne, Ala.; Lamb Bros.
