OPSU beef bull test performance 56 day results announced

The beef bulls consigned to the 58th Annual OPSU bull test have completed 56 days of the 112 day performance test. The bulls have an overall average daily gain of 4.49 pounds and an average weight-per-day-of-age of 3.23 pounds. The test will be completed Jan. 30, 2010 and the top 70 head will sell in the 58th Annual Performance Tested Sale scheduled for Feb. 22, 2010.

OPSU Angus has the top junior age bull with an ADG of 5.84 pounds. The bull is a son of B&M Right Time 667. Phil Light, Turpin, Okla., has the second ranked junior with an ADG of 5.41 pounds on an Angus sired by Morgans Direction III 9901. In third place is a Winks Farm Angus bull on an ADG of 5.39 pounds. The bull is a son of PL in Focus 376.

OPSU also has the top pen of junior bulls with an ADG of 4.91 pounds on three bulls, all sired by B&M Right Time 667. Phil Light's pen of four Angus is second with an ADG of 4.88 pounds. Two of these bulls are sons of Morgans Direction III 9901 and two are sons of Mytty in Focus. B&M Angus, Edmond, Okla., has the third place junior pen with three bulls sired by Spur Success 2801. Their ADG is 4.77 pounds.

In the senior-age division, B&M Angus leads the way with an ADG of 6.93 pounds on their Test No. 9-2 sired by Spur Success 2801. An OPSU Angus, sired by GAR Goode Yield Grade 596, is second with an ADG of 6.09 pounds, and Larry Weinkauf of Orlando, Okla. Test Nos 27-4 and 27-2 are third and fourth on ADG's of 6.07 pounds and 6.02 pounds respectively.

In the senior-age pen division, B&M Angus has the top pen on an ADG of 5.70 pounds All three bulls are sired by Spur Success 2801. Al Rutledge, Stillwater, Okla., has the second place senior-age pen with an ADG of 5.50 pounds on three Angus sired by GAR Predstined. Larry Weinkauf's pen of four Angus are third with an ADG of 5.30 pounds.
