NM family works to settle suit against JBS SwiftDENVER (AP)--The family of a New Mexico boy who got sick after eating sirloin from JBS Swift Beef Co., is working to settle a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages against the Greeley, Colo.-based company. JBS Swift recalled about 380,000 pounds of beef this summer due to connections with outbreaks of E. coli. Alex Roerick and his mother, Hollie, of Albuquerque, filed a lawsuit in July saying Alex developed kidney failure after eating meat from the company. In documents filed in U.S. District Court in Denver on Dec. 7, lawyers for the Roericks and the company asked that the claims be dismissed, with no money changing hands, so the parties could pursue a settlement.
