Long lines at elevators reported

Nebraska

For the week ending Dec. 6, clear conditions allowed harvest to move forward, but limited drying capacity continues to slow progress, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office, Dec. 7.

Long lines at elevators continue to be reported and deliveries of high moisture grain have been limited to keep up with drying demands. Producers in the southeastern third of the state are nearing completion, while the majority of the crop remaining to be harvested is in the western and northern counties.

Temperatures averaged four degrees below normal across the state. Temperatures varied from lows below zero to highs in the low 60's. Precipitation was limited with snow being recorded in the Panhandle at midweek and across much of the south on Sunday.

Corn harvested was 88 percent complete. Sorghum harvest was 87 percent complete. Winter wheat conditions rated 0 percent very poor, 1 percent poor, 29 percent fair, 62 percent good, and 8 percent excellent.
