Angus champions named at 2009 Missouri State FairMissouri Exhibitors led 228 entries at the 2009 Missouri State Fair Angus Show, August 14 in Sedalia, Mo. Daniel Shike, Urbana, Ill., evaluated the 171 females, 46 bulls and 11 cow-calf pairs before selecting champions. SydGen CC & 7 8166 claimed grand champion and junior champion bull honors. G.W. Schneider, Jamestown, Mo., and Sydenstricker Genetics Inc., Mexico, Mo., own the January 2008 son of SydGen C C & 7. Justin Mauss, Bois D Arc, Mo., led the reserve grand champion bull. Clearwater Analyst 108 is a January 2008 son of Dr J Analyst M250. He earlier won reserve junior champion. Werner Lady 3107 captured grand champion female for Kimberlee Gieseker, Martinsburg, Mo. The September 2007 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004 first won senior champion. Carter Ward, Plattsburg, Mo., showed the reserve grand champion female. GWR Lady 816 is a February 2008 daughter of TC Freedom 104 and first won late junior calf champion. T J M Elga Erica 006 35 was named grand champion cow-calf pair. Brooklynn Bell, Delaware, Okla., owns the September 2003 daughter of B/R New Frontier 095. A January 2009 heifer calf sired by RR Grid Maker 5456 completes the winning pair.
