Egg Industry Center hires program manager-business analystIowa Maro Ibarburu has joined the Egg Industry Center at Iowa State University as program manager-business analyst. Hongwei Xin, director of the center, said Ibarburu will conduct egg industry statistical analysis, study regulations and opportunities for the egg industry, and identify and apply for grant funding to support research and outreach programs for egg-producing and processing companies. Ibarburu is an Uruguay native who received his master's degree in agricultural economics at ISU in 2005, and has been working as a research associate conducting research in cattle and swine production and markets in the ISU economics department. He received his bachelor's degree in agronomy and animal science in Uruguay, and managed his family's cattle and sheep business for four years. Ibarburu's previous position allowed him to gain first-hand knowledge of egg production and processing by visiting egg operations in the Midwest.
