AFR: Tolle great choice for OK FSA post"A great choice for Oklahoma agriculture producers" is how American Farmers & Ranchers President Terry Detrick describes the June 29 appointment of Francie Kucera Tolle, to the post heading the state office of the USDA Farm Service Agency. "While representing AFR members and all agriculture interests in Washington, D.C., during the drafting and subsequent passage of the 2008 farm bill, Francie was recognized by not only our Oklahoma Congressional Delegation but also other state delegations as well as the 'go to' person for an accurate assessment of the proposed legislation's affect on rural America," Detrick said. "It is only fitting that she can now be in a position to offer advice and help implement it." Following the passage of legislation that became law her interpretative analysis was the first in the state for producers to begin to consider early program options. "During her time with AFR as Legislative Policy Analyst, Francie demonstrated an uncommon talent to be able to analyze, evaluate and apply legislation which affects agriculture," explained Detrick. Francie joined AFR in July 2007 following service at the Oklahoma State University as Director of Development for the Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Prior to that, as State Director, she created the Oklahoma Agritourism program at the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Other posts have included agriculture advisor to U.S. Congressman Brad Carson and Executive Director of the Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association. "She and her husband, Chuck, are real farmers who understand the challenges that all sizes of producers must encounter each day in the course of battling fluctuating commodity prices, disastrous weather and escalating input costs," Detrick explained. "She is one of us." Tolle's farming operation, near Deer Creek in Grant County, has included wheat, soybeans, grain sorghum, cotton, cow-calf and stocker cattle.
