Man pleads not guilty in shooting incident

STURGIS, S.D. (AP)--A Meade County man accused of shooting at his neighbor in a dispute about wandering cattle has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault.

Albert Munroe Jr. is accused of firing a handgun in the direction of Glen Myers on May 21 after a dispute between the two escalated.

Authorities say Munroe believed his neighbor had allowed his fences to deteriorate, enabling Myers' cattle to cross onto Munroe's property near Stoneville.

Munroe initially also faced a charge of attempted second-degree murder but a grand jury later dropped it.
