Steers, bred-and-owned, Lim-Flex animals lead off Junior Nationals

Junior Limousin exhibitors displayed the results of their personal breeding programs in the bred-and-owned shows at the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress July 14 in Amarillo, Texas. Judge Steve Kennedy, Muleshoe, Texas, watched them parade 42 Limousin females and 12 Limousin bulls.

DL Wonder's Tabitha 300T, owned by Blair Davis, Brownwood, Texas, earned grand champion bred-and-owned Limousin female honors. The April 11, 2007, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon showed with a March 26 daughter of BR 65R Genesis at her side and first won Division 3. The reserve grand champion was GMEG Zahara, the Division 2 winner. Megan Greenawalt, Lynchburg, Ohio, owns the Jan. 19, 2008, daughter of FWLY Big Time.

In the bred-and-owned Limousin bull show, Kennedy found the top two entries in Division 2. MDRC Native 6004U--owned by Morgan Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan.--earned the grand-champion honors. He is a March 1, 2008, son of EXLR Native 7133N. The reserve grand champion was SL Cutting Edge - an April 20, 2008, son of SL Straight Edge. Jordan Straight, Logan, Iowa, owns him.

Kennedy sorted 73 head in the Lim-Flex female show. Shane Harrison, Minier, Ill., won grand champion with JW Summitcrest Erica 4130, the Division 3 champion and anOct. 14, 2007, daughter of EF Main Stay 541M out of B¬ L¬ R Erica 7086. Reserve grand champion went to TMCK Joyce 88T, the Division 3 reserve champion. Molly Greenawalt, Lynchburg, Ohio, owns the Sept. 8, 2007, daughter of CBF Impressive 5401 out of LESF Joyce 5313R.

From the bred-and-owned entries, Kennedy selected GMEG Rebeca 834U as the champion. Megan Greenawalt owns the May 17, 2008, daughter of EXLR Moderator 053M out of EXLR Rebeca 797S. MKLM Belle's Superstition--a July 12, 2008, daughter of Basin Franchise P142 out of EXLR Belle 7134S--was the reserve champion bred-and-owned Lim-Flex female for Michael Mitchell, Mangum, Okla.

There were three head in the second-ever NJLSC bred-and-owned Lim-Flex bull show. Remy Carmichael, Midland, Texas, won with How You Doin--a Sept. 6, 2008, son of S¬ A¬ V Net Worth 4200 out of MINE PLD Mystic 2482M. Carmichael also had the reserve champion in Whikett--an Oct. 10, 2008, son of Deer Valley Design 208 61 out of RNCL PLD Savannah 6145S.

The steer show included eight entries in the Prospect Division and 11 head in the Progress Division. Shelbi Holdman, Sundown, Texas, won champion prospect steer with PCC Blackjack 807 U--a 668-pound, Oct. 20, 2008, halfblood son of KCHP Shiner 6003¬ S out of a foundation cow. Reserve prospect champion went to LFL 8305U--the 740-pound, Oct. 18, 2008, halfblood son of KRVN Pacesetter 053P out of a foundation cow that Travis Payne, Levelland, Texas, showed.

Zachery Lindsey, Spirit Lake, Iowa, had the champion progress steer in DUIN Usher--a 1,255-pound, April 22, 2008, purebred son of NICI Scepter out of BBOB Miss Angel 607F. Derek Anderson, Garner, Iowa, had the reserve champion with RGMA Mario 225U--a 1,295-pound, Feb. 20, 2008, halfblood son of HRF Hairy out of RGMA Phoebe 4076P.
