Red Angus Juniors elect new board members

Junior Red Angus Association of America members elected new officers during the annual Junior Round-Up recently held in South Dakota.

The 2009-2010 JRA Board members are: President, Montgomery Dempsey of Millington, Tenn.; First Vice President, Marianne Mendoza of Valley Springs, Calif.; Second Vice President, Tyler Rush of Jasper, Mo; Public Relations Director, Alyssa Looney of Denton, Texas; Fund Raising Director, Cassie Kniebel of White City, Kan.; and Leadership Director, Daniel Weidenbach of Highmore, S.D.

Following the Round-Up, Kim Anderson, University of Georgia/Fanning Institute of Clarion, Iowa, conducted a leadership training workshop for the JRA Board of Directors.

The JRA Directors are active throughout the year. In September, they will attend the National Red Angus Convention in Minnesota and conduct JRA fund-raising events and a junior activities meeting, participate in workshops and report on JRA events.

In November at the National Junior Show in Louisville, Ky., the junior board will assist with the check-in and processing of both open and junior show cattle, conduct activities for junior exhibitors and assist with the national show.

In January 2010, the JRA Board will attend the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, Colo., and assist with the Junior Stockgrower's Contest and conduct a workshop for the contestants. The JRA Board will also attend the RAAA Brain Trust meetings and Mile High Red Angus Sale.

In March 2010, the JRA Board will participate in the Youth Beef Industry Congress YBIC, a bi-annual beef industry event, held in Bloomington, Minn.

Throughout the year, the JRA board will plan the 2010 Junior Round-Up slated for Oregon.
