Kurt and Hally Ziegler named Advisors of the Year

Kurt and Hally Ziegler, Bloomfield, Neb., were honored as the 2009 Advisors of the Year, July 10 during the VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo in Tulsa, Okla.

The couple has contributed their time, talents and guidance for four years to the Nebraska Junior Hereford Association members and their families. Kurt and Hally were nominated by the NJHA board and received the honor during the 2009 JNHE awards banquet.

Kurt and Hally have been involved in raising, buying and selling Hereford cattle for the past nine years. They have attended and participated in six JNHEs.

As advisors they support the NJHA board by attending its meetings, assisting with state show preparations, which includes entries and program development, as well as being positive and friendly role models to all junior members.

After receiving this award, the couple said they were both surprised and honored. "This is not a one man show. The kids, parents and other advisors do so much. We all work together which makes the work a lot easier," says Kurt. "We've enjoyed being advisors and look forward to many more junior nationals."

Kurt has a custom cattle feeding operation and assists others with their farming and ranching work. Hally is the production supervisor at Michael Foods. Both Kurt and Hally were born and raised in the cattle business. They have three children, Ashley, Madie and Wiley.

The 2009 VitaFerm Junior National Hereford Expo was sponsored in part by Biozyme Inc., St. Joseph, Mo. The NJHA is one of the most active junior programs in the country with approximately 3,000 members. The NJHA's mission is to create and promote enthusiasm for the breed while providing opportunities through leadership, education and teamwork.
