N.D. brucellosis order still standsBISMARCK, N.D. (AP)--A North Dakota order imposed about a year ago that requires Montana cattle imports to test negative for brucellosis still stands. Export restrictions on Montana's cattle industry were being lifted on July 10 after federal officials declared the state once again free of the livestock disease. North Dakota State Veterinarian Susan Keller says the Board of Animal Health likely won't discuss what to do about its order until its next meeting, tentatively set for early September. Blood tests on some cattle in Montana around Yellowstone National Park will continue indefinitely. And Keller says North Dakota officials might consider continuing to require negative tests on cattle brought in from those areas. She says that was the approach North Dakota took when Idaho and Wyoming were declared free of brucellosis in recent years.
