USCP welcomes Director of Western States Field Services

The United Sorghum Checkoff Program is pleased to welcome new Director of Western States Field Services, Dusti Fritz of Wamego, Kan.

With prior experience as Chief Executive Officer for the Kansas Wheat Commission and Kansas Association of Wheat Growers, Fritz's great leadership ability and producer knowledge will serve her well in her new role with USCP. As Director of Western States Field Services for the USCP, Fritz will be responsible for program development as well as research, market development and communications for western sorghum producing states.

"We are very excited to have Dusti join us as Director of Western States Field Services," said Virgil Smail, USCP Executive Director. "Her strong background in association and commission management as well as in checkoff work will give us the needed experience to run our programs from Kansas to California efficiently for the betterment of the sorghum industry."

Prior to serving in her position as CEO, Fritz served as interim administrator of the Kansas Wheat Commission where she was responsible for managing the Commission's budget, initiating policy development, advising the Board of Directors, and planning and implementing market development initiatives.

"I am very excited to join the United Sorghum Checkoff Program as Director of Western States Field Services," Fritz said. "It is an honor to be given the opportunity to work for US sorghum producers to build this new program and strengthen demand for sorghum through research and market development activities."

In addition to experience in the wheat industry, Fritz also has strong background knowledge in dealing with USDA policy. After graduating from Oklahoma State University with her Masters of Science in Agricultural Economics, she served as both an Agricultural Economist and a Grains Policy Analyst with USDA and the Foreign Agricultural Service. Among other duties while at USDA, Fritz evaluated EU grain policy changes and their potential impacts on the U.S. grain industry, developed official USDA world wheat trade estimates, and examined foreign policy and its impact on global trade.

The United Sorghum Checkoff Program is a producer funded organization that strives to increase the profitability of sorghum through research, promotion and information.
