UN, China sign $30 million ag deal

ROME (AP)--A U.N. food agency says it has signed a $30 million cooperation deal with China to boost agriculture production in developing countries.

The Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization said March 25 that under the three-year deal, China will provide experts for technical assistance and training, as well as seeds, pesticides and equipment.

The agency said the agreement, focusing on Africa but also including other regions, was signed March 24 in Beijing.

According to the agency, China has sent around 700 experts to developing countries over the past four years.
