St. Onge livestock salesThe St. Onge Livestock Sales Co., Ltd., St. Onge, S.D., reported receipts of 1,082 head April 17, compared to 956 head last week, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder heifers sold mostly $2 to $4 higher. Due to difference in numbers of feeder steers, no accurate trend is available. However, a steady to higher undertone was noted. Buyer attendance was moderate with good to moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 37% slaughter cattle, 11% bred cattle and replacement bulls, 52% feeders. The feeder supply included 11% steers, 89% heifers, and 81% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 433 lbs., 108.00; 5 head, 568 lbs., 115.50; 15 head, 615 to 634 lbs., 109.00 to 111.50 (110.52); 14 head, 679 to 684 lbs., 100.50 to 105.00 (103.39); 20 head, 741 to 747 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00 (98.26). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 16 head, 489 lbs., 109.00; 544 to 548 lbs., 106.50 to 109.00 (108.19); 556 to 570 lbs., 106.00 to 106.50 (106.40); 607 to 647 lbs., 103.50 to 108.75 (105.62); 680 to 699 lbs., 100.00 to 102.75 (102.49); 651 to 652 lbs., 105.50 to 107.50 (106.02) value added; 24 head, 775 lbs., 101.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1255 to 1600 lbs., 51.00 to 54.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 980 to 1685 lbs., 50.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.50 to 58.50; low dressing, 46.00 to 49.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 840 to 1355 lbs., 40.00 to 45.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1520 to 2090 lbs., 56.00 to 58.75 59.00 to 61.00.
