Sioux Falls sheep sales report

The Sioux Falls Sheep and Goat Auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 431 head April 21, compared to 629 head last week and 776 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Slaughter lambs were not well tested. Feeder lambs not tested last week for a comparison. Slaughter ewes were mostly steady. Very good demand for offering of high quality new crop feeding lambs. Receipts included about 2% slaughter lambs, 51% feeder lambs; 35% slaughter ewes, the balance was bucks.

Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 7 head, 147 lbs., 93.50.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 15 head, 156 lbs., 37.00; 168 to 181 lbs., 37.50 to 39.00 (38.26); 16 head, 203 to 208 lbs., 37.00 to 39.00 (38.13). Good 3 to 4, 8 head, 194 to 198 lbs., 30.50 to 36.00 (32.76); 2 head, 220 lbs., 30.00. Utility and Good 2 to 3, 9 head, 146 lbs., 34.00; 4 head, 194 lbs., 30.00. Utility 1 to 2, 3 head, 158 lbs., 25.00; 5 head, 169 lbs., 24.00. Cull 1, 150 to 159 lbs., 10.00 to 18.00 (14.89).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 28 head, 46 lbs., 135.00; 22 head, 52 lbs., 138.00; 63 to 69 lbs., 129.00 to 135.00 (129.96); 60 head, 78 lbs., 130.00; 12 head, 86 lbs., 126.00. Medium frame 2, 11 head, 69 lbs., 101.00.

Slaughter kids: Selection 2, 1 head, 40 lbs., 81.00; 2 head, 85 lbs., 62.00.

Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 2, 1 head, 75 lbs., 49.00; 15 head, 109 lbs., 51.00; 2 head, 175 lbs., 56.00.
