Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,779 head, April 15, compared to 4,700 head, last week and 2,961 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers 650 to 850 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 850 to 950 pounds were steady to $4 higher, 650 and under were steady in a light test. Feeder heifers 600 to 650 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, 650 to 850 pounds were firm to $2 higher, 850 to 900 pounds were weak to $2 lower, heifers under 650 pounds too light supply for a test higher undertone. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm. Trade was active and demand good. Receipts included 78% over 600 pounds, 15% under 600 pounds, 7% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, average dressing, 60.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 58.50. Yield grade 2, low dressing, 36.50 to 40.50.
