OKC West livestock auction report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 7,428 head April 22, compared to 5,521 head last week and 4,701 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was good for feeder cattle. Slaughter cattle in the north moved to $90 last week. Weigh-ups were average to full. The supply consisted of 81% over 600 pounds, 14% under 600 pounds, 5% cows and bulls. The total included 39% heifers. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher, except lean cows were $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 higher. Packer demand was moderate to good. The supply included several replacement cows and heifers available and these sold to good demand. A total of 422 cows and bulls sold with 35% going to packers.
