Nebraska man sentenced again for bogus cattle deals
RED CLOUD, Neb. (AP)--A Nebraska man accused in a bogus cattle deal has been sentenced to more prison time.
Jim Beard, of Superior, was sentenced on March 26 in Webster County District Court to 10 to 15 years in prison for theft.
Authorities say he bounced a check of more than $13,000 for the purchase of cattle at a Blue Hill sale barn in April 2007. A week later, he bought more than $10,000 worth of cattle but left without paying for them.
Beard also was sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison in a separate theft chase in Clay County. That case dealt with transactions at a Sutton sale barn, also during April 2007.
The two prison terms will be served at the same time.
