McAlester livestock auction report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 1,775 head April 22, compared to 1,415 head last week and 1,650 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker cattle and feeder heifers were steady. Feeder steers were steady to $3 higher. Good attendance of buyers and active trade. Cattle in thin to fleshy condition. Receipts included 22% over 600 pounds and 47% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls steady. Good attendance of buyers and active trade. A total of 235 cows and bulls sold with 65% to packers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 14 head, 1425 to 2300 lbs., 61.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 57.50 to 59.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 6 years old, 950 to 1125 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality 770.00 to 850.00.
