Kansas 4-H/FFA team places well at American Royal National Western

Ellis County 4-Hers representing Kansas at the 2008 American Royal National 4-H Contest placed 4th overall. The team consisted of Casey Dickinson, Garret Dietz, Audrey Werth and Kyle Zimmerman.

"Everyone in Ellis County is so proud of their efforts and accomplishments, as a matter of fact all of these young adults have received scholarships to further their education and compete in livestock evaluation on a collegiate level," said Susan Schlichting, Ellis County 4-H agent.

In the team events, placings were as follows: 5th in sheep, 3rd swine, 3rd cattle and 5th in reasons. Individually in sheep Casey Dickinson 5th; swine Kyle Zimmerman 6th ; beef Casey Dickinson 3rd; overall individually Garret Dietz 20th and Casey Dickinson was 2nd high individual.

This same team also represented Hays FFA Chapter and Kansas FFA by placing 2nd at the state FFA contest and 3rd at the National Western in January 2009. In the team events they placed--2nd sheep, 3rd cattle, and 3rd in reasons. Individually in cattle--Kyle Zimmerman 4th, Garret Dietz 8th; sheep 6th Casey Dickinson, 7th Kyle Zimmerman and 9th Garret Dietz; swine 5th Garret Dietz; goats 2nd Kyle Zimmerman; reasons 5th Garret Dietz, and 7th Kyle Zimmerman; Overall individually 8th Garret Dietz and 9th Kyle Zimmerman.
